Shopping anyone?

Inspired by HK's post on Pavilion KL, I browsed around for news about the new mall, and I found out that Pavilion will not be the only new mall around town.

In fact, according to this report in the Star today, there will be 3 new shopping malls opening in the Klang Valley before the month ends. There are, Pavillion KL, The Gardens Mid Valley and Sunway Pyramid 2 (a.k.a. Sunway Pyramid Annexe)

The first mall to open will be Pavilion KL on September 20, followed by The Gardens on September 26 and Sunway Pyramid 2 four days later.
Anyway, I did some simple research (online news, websites and even some blogs) about the malls and came up with some basic facts and figures.

Information came from various sources and thus no guarantees are made with regards to its accuracy.. lol.. and question marks means i failed to find the information..

(As before, the image appears small....click on it to enlarge.. I would have drawn a table but the HTML code is extremely cumbersome.. so i just copy into Paint and upload the image)

For comparison purposes, I dug for info on a couple of existing major shopping malls in KL and Selangor. Here's what I found:

(I used to think that Mid Valley is the biggest mall in Malaysia, surprisingly 1-Utama beat Mid Valley in both Built-up area and Net Lettable Space)

Currently in Sungei Wang we have Green Zone, Yellow Zone, Blue Zone, Orange Zone.

In 1-Utama we have trendier names like: Promenade Lakeside, Rainforest, Highstreet, Oval, Centre Court, Courtyard and Entertainment Zone.

The new malls try to be even cooler, now they don't call them zones, they call them precincts.
Pavilion KL has come up with 6 precincts.
The names are Bintang Circle, Gourmet Emporium, Couture, Connection, HOME and Seventh Heaven. Cool rite?

Not to be outdone, Sunway Pyramid 2 has 4 precincts, namely Fashion Central, Oasis Boulevard, Asian Avenue and Marrakesh.

So, what effect does the opening of the new malls have on us Jedis? Probably a new place to hang out? or new ways to spend money?

What's for sure is that it'll be great (at least for the short term) for the Monash people as Sunway Pyramid Annexe is nearby.
Too bad for Cyberjaya and Uniten people.. haha..

hahaha dumbass Berjaya boasts Times Square as the hawtest biggest shopping mall in town. Hahaha.

what's puzzling is The Gardens has a huge built-up area but only 1.1mil sq ft of lettable area. What do they reserve the rest for? Parking spaces? If that's the case I'll probably head down to The Gardens. No more jam la sure.

Btw, KK Mall sure zhap lap on it's opening day already. Only all the aunty and grandma go there.

not sure bout that.. but i think the figure given (for the Gardens built-up area) includes the office towers and Gardens Hotel and Residence.
