Yesterday I Went to a Pasar Malam

Yeah u got me right. Who would've expected? But thanks to Melbourne Uni Overseas Student Society (MUOSS), we partially(note the level) homesick and nightlife-apart-from-clubbing-deprived students get to revel in this authentically homelandish event. So we had a few stalls here and there, from Taiwan to Hong Kong to Korea to Singapore to Indonesia, and last but not least Malaysia YEAH YEAH. Quote Justin "wow Malaysia is so fun..."

Most of these stalls were selling subpar delicacies of which we still happily sampled nonetheless. I went there on an empty stomach, ended up filling it with Roti Canai without Dahl/Dal/Dull/Fark?! Yeah wtf. And teh tarik (which was surprisingly good), some French Toast drenched in Honey (Hong Kong Char Chan Teng anyone?), Tong Yuen, Bubur Cha Cha and Fu Chuk Yi Mai.

Ok here are the pics from the event!

Super crowded. So many leng luis as well. Well can't spot them here though.

A myriad of wonderful stalls each unique in their items on offer.

Me, Ying, Jay-Q and Ernest enjoying our Mamak Delights!

Roti Canai without Dahl and teh tarik.

Input, Process, Output? Haha whatever you wanna caption it.

"How much for that?"
"That will be $Superman please. "
" -___- ? "

Haha, again... whatever.

Welcome to Hong Kong? Lol

Welcome to wherever Bubur Cha Cha and Fu Chuk Yi Mai originates from. Err.... Malaysia?

Anyway, wow, regretted that I didn't get to go to Melbourne Uni, where there are so many leng luis. Not to say there aren't any in Monash, but it's just sucker.

Oh yea, speaking of Pasar Malam, where are the pirated DVD stalls? None? I'll just sit at the corner of my room and emo now.

Kids are smart

An interesting pic i came across in one of the e-mails i received:

Futsal confirmation

Message from the editor (Jukebox):

Summary - the majority is ok with Saturday, so it's gonna be on Saturday 10:30 for futsal. If both it will be too tiring. KY cant make it on Saturday, and Darren can't make it Friday. And some didnt even bother to reply. Anonymous should be Fred or Ben. If i'm not mistaken 5 ppl have confirmed. We will get enough players after adding in Jinz's (pronounced JIN-zers) frens.

I will handle the futsal part only. For the basketball and bowling in KK's package, pls refer to Kitlou. Kitlou will be the organiser for those two events.

To all those concerned, Pls leave some trace somewhere (by some means) to acknowledge you have read this.

TQ.

Numbers Game

Fungus has been spreading like wildfire over the past few weeks. So I've decided to plant some other veggies to make this farm more interesting. Here are the first seeds for some tomatoes. (Although still no chlorophyll, but better than nothing)

Today's post is about numbers (boring, but interesting):

555,000,000

That's the number of mobile phone users in China. A staggering number in fact, when you consider that that is more than the entire population of the USA (3rd most populous country in the world). In fact, China make up 20% of the total mobile phone users around the world.

For comparison, India has 250 million mobile phone users. Now that's a lot of radiation in these two countries.

3.2 Billion USD

The estimated project value of Singapore's first casino and integrated resort - The Marina Bay Sands, and scheduled to open in 2009.

After then, expect a dip in visitor numbers to Genting Highlands. Those holding Genting shares might consider selling.

15 minutes

is all it takes to borrow €300. That, is if you are living in Sweden. Simply send a text message, wait 15 minutes, and the money lands in your account. The simplicity of obtaining loans in that country is increasingly luring youth into debt.

As they say, it's best to learn from young. The Swedish system allows for youngsters to learn how to incur debt first, so they will be used to it later in life.

36492

The largest majority in the recent elections. Won by "Rocket" in Seputeh.

The majority is actually higher than the number of votes the other candidate garnered. For more election trivia, click here.

787 million

That's the average number of sperm in an average ejaculate.

Whoa! That's a lot of competition, man. Swim, swim, swim!

3

The number of posts we had on our blog in February 2008.

Lowest ever in the oh-so-short and uneventful history of the J-council blog.

Ok. That's all for now. Ta ta. Sayonara. An-nyung.
