7-4??? what the heck? Broke the record for the Premier League's highest-scoring game!
Brief match report:
Portsmouth went goal crazy at Fred-ton Park, with Benjani Mwaruwari netting a hat-trick in a 7-4 demolition of Reading that now represents the Barclays Premier League's highest-scoring game.
The Royals had only beaten Pompey once in the past 25 years but cannot have defended any worse in any of those previous encounters.
Goals from Stephen Hunt and Dave “KY” Kitson (cos Kitson = Kitlou’s son) actually cancelled out Benjani's first-half double, but Steve Coppell's side were soon buried under an avalanche of replies.
Hermann Hreidarren (closest name i can find) headed Pompey back ahead, Benjani's third was followed by a fine strike from Niko "KK" Kranjcar (lots of 'K's in the name) and, after substitute Shane “Jinz” Long (and hard as well) had pulled one back for Reading, Sean Davis netted a long-rang shot, before Sulley "Justin" Muntari (pronounced mun-tah-ri) made it 7-3 from the spot.
Nicky Shorey had the last word with a deflected fourth for the visitors.
Other comments:
Kevin Doyle played for the whole 90 minutes and wasn't even mentioned in the match report.
Portsmouth had 7 goals but "Jon" Utaka didnt score any of them. He got 1 assist though.
Michael "Rudy" Duberry (Rudy rhymes with Duberry..lol) played as defender for Reading and got a yellow card in the 90th minute.
Can't find a link to HK so far.. I think i mentioned the rest of the jedis..
oh ya, HK is currently the nearest to Portsmouth - 588km only.
